Why can't we just leave SuBo Alone?!

Susan Boyle gets a...

...Bit of a hard time here in Scotland. Why I ask you?

Celebrities in Hollywood and New York and London and even Bollywood are treated with respect - certainly a lot more respect than poor Susan gets in her home country.

Susan, dubbed 'SuBo' rather affectionately by the media, shot to fame in 2009 when her 'Britains got Talent' audition astounded all and sundry. Now 50, Susan shot to overnight fame and success, becoming a worldwide household name and releasing albums of her own - even though she failed to win the 2009 series and lost out to dance troupe 'Diversity'.

Of course we were all sitting around our televisions in Glasgow urging her on, but in the end it wasn't enough: however, her success did not go unnoticed by the record companies and she has not been out of work - or the press - much since.

Susan should be idolized for her reluctance to appear 'perfect' to her public...

But fame didn't...

...Come easy for the Scottish chanter, and a plague of mental health issues have seen her in and out of hospital over the last few years - a plague made worse by the stress and strain of rising to the top.

Last year she was reportedly forced to move out of her beloved Council Estate, ex-council owned house in Blackburn, West-Lothian, because she was being terrorized by youths of the area. Of course, when everyone has seen your face on TV and you only live around the corner you might get a little recognition...but at one point it was alleged that she even had a prowler looking in her windows of a night. The woman deserves a bit of privacy for goodness sake! There have been countless other incidents over the last two years involving the singer, some of which include stalkers, over-eager fans and jibes in the street from youngsters!

The most recent antics I read about was where a young man was 'dared' to run into her house and steal something. He took £9 from her trouser pockets and was discovered only after SuBo returned from recording in London. A judge fined the youth, and made him pay back the money, but at the end of the day this is a woman who is finding her own home increasingly less safe as her fame goes on.

And we wonder why celebrities tend not to live in Scotland?

Worse still, all this comes just a week after she returned to her council house from her £500,000 'mansion' after moving out to have it refurbished. Some might ask why she doesn't change address, as I did. The answer is that the council property reminds her of her late parents who used to own the house.

It would be a horrible thing if the poor woman ended up having to move because of some delinquents.

But doesn't she scrub up well!

Love this rare talent. Thanks for writing about her.

The delinquent broke into her house well over a year ago and that's why she bought the new house to begin with.

After having some improvements made to the old house, she recently moved back there.
