Amber

| Purification, healing energy of the sun. In Norse mythology the world was created around yggdrasil, the giant tree.

Amethyst
| A variety on quartz, light or dark purple but never from one to the other (see flourite)
| Mental clarity comes from the quartz aspect. The depth of colour in the stone leads to the spiritual element and it is therefore used often in meditation. It is also associated with psychic awareness.

Aquamarine
| A variety on Beryl, blue or blue green.
| Traditionally used as a gem one wears to inspire courage, the strength to bear lilfes troubles.

Aventurine
| Many different known colours, glitter because of mineral deposits in the rocks surface.
| Serenity, but also used in protection charms. Wear this if travelling.

Azurite
| Copper carbonate in blue, also known as Chessylite
| Encourages creative growth, good to keep in a creative workspace.

Bloodstone
| Chalcedony dotted with red blood spots or veins
| The stone of the planet Mars. Carrying this stone on your person will inspire strength, wealth and fame. Do not wear it if you are trying to fade into the background! Also associated with bloodflow around the body.

Carnelian
| Orange or red with a tinge of brown. Often slightly transparent.
| This is a stone to inspire anger, passion and fire. It is associated astrologically with Cancer.

Celestite
| A sulphate in many different shades.
| A piece of this beside your bed will help you to remember your dreams.

Citrine
| From the latin, yellow in colour another variety on quartz.
| Physically associated with the digestive system and a stone often used in Chakra healing; citrine is said to carry some of the suns energy.

Diamond
| Clear or more rarely found with a hint of another colour in the spectrum through it.
| Purification, refreshment, cleansing. Unbreakable qualities of the soul.

Emerald
| Green as only emeralds can truly be.
| Associated with Venus; the stone of an everlasting memory...good to wear for an exam.

Flourite
| Can be found in purple or green and can be both colours. Usually they are lighter at one side and darker in colour at the other. They are vaguely transparent and are often missold as amethyst.
| Both varieties improve concentration because they are technically a quartz, however, it is said that the purple can be worn to improve intuition whereas one should wear the green to cleanse oneself.

| Mineral groupings in a variety of colours.
| Wearing a red garnet will increase your sexual attractiveness. It is also said to be a stone of health, healing by burning off negative energy.

Geode
| A half hollow rock on which the inside has grown a mineral crystal formation.
| Often used to increase ones powers of astral projection. Associated with phsycic awareness and power.

Hematite
| Iron oxide, usually polished metallic.
| Another Mars stone, worn to increase circulatory or respiratory abilities. Also thought to calm the nerovus system.

Jade
| Most commonly green
| Another Venus stone, increase your confidence, protect yourself or balance male and female energies in your home with this stone.

Jasper
| Variety on chalcedony, translucent and in a variety of colors.
| Joy, protection, also used to aid in astral travel.

Labradorite
| Found in many colors.
| Increase self awareness and universal connection. Clears the aura.

Lapis Lazuli
| Usually blue, but other minerals can be in other colors.
| Jupiter, psychic awareness and universal wisdom.

Malachite
| Light or dark green copper.
| encourages luck and physical well being.

Moonstone
| feldspar, often colourless or tinted.
| Moon, the female, womans health and birth cycles.

Moss Agate
| Another variety on agate
| Improves self esteem and positivity.

Obsidian
| black or dark, dark green.
| Saturn in the planetary aspect, a stone worn to help one to grieve. often considered unlucky.

Quartz
| Also known as 'rock crystal' colourless and crystallized
| Dispels negativity and promotes clarity. Keep a piece of quartz near your computer to help it run smoothly.

| understanding change.

Rose Quartz
| A pink variety on quartz
| Clarity due to the quartz component, but the pink is indicative of the emotions and the stone is often used most in affairs of the heart.

Ruby
| Red corundum
| Another Mars stone, passionate, firey and powerful. This stone promotes independence, strength and courage

Sapphire
| Blue corundum
| clarity of thought and voice, inspiration, wear this if speaking publicly.

Smoky Quartz
| black or dark brown, sometimes hazy quartz.
| Clarity due to the quartz aspect, protection stone, used in meditation.

Tiger's Eye
| can be red or gold striped black or brown stone that shimmers
| Courage, confidence and sexual magnetism.

Topaz
| Imperial topaz is golden and highly prized.
| Topaz was used by the egyptians as an antidote to grief. It is thought to heal and bring balance.

Tourmaline
| green, red or multi-coulored
| Often used to combat nerves although each tourmaline colour is said to have its own meaning due to the light energy that the differing colours bring.

Turquoise
| Glue green, or turquoise!
| A healing stone, a bonding stone, good to give to a lifelong friend.
