Turquoise in Nature

Historically, turquoise is named after the Turks in whose landscape the stone occurs naturally and who used it in earlier times to decorate they're most prized architecture. It is considered to be semi-rare as a gem stone and is used mostly in ornamentation and jewellery.

Out with it's gemstone appearance, turquoise is harder to find in nature than either of its components - green and blue. It is a collision of both, a neat swirling of the land and the sky together. There are few turquoise flowering plants and some are now quite rare.

So aside from the gem turquoise can be found in the shallows of the ocean. In this way it is considered to have the same calming, unifying effects on us as its component colours.

The physical energy of turquoise lies in it's blend of the cyclic nature of things that comes from green, and the calming, soothing properties that come from blue. In this way it is a strong relaxant and is most effective on the upper body and respiratory area's.

Turquoise and You

Since turquoise in its physical element aids in the soothing of respiratory issues it may help a cold or sore throat to wear a piece of the gem around your neck should the event arise.

Emotionally Turquoise is thought to be another artists colour, aiding in the cyclic flow of creativity (i.e. you are inspired, you create, you admire, you move on.) It has soothing qualities which some people find overwhelming or a little uncomfortable in large doses. If you have a whole room decorated in this colour it can be very dominating, try adding it in splashes and keeping it to the kitchen or bathroom.

Turquoise clothing can be useful when you need to reinforce old issues. If you are bringing something up in a disagreement with a partner there is more chance they will take on board what you are saying if you have a little turquoise influence. In this way, if you are decorating an office space then turquoise is an ideal colour.

Turquoise has been used for protection as well as healing. If you are feeling particularly vulnerable it wouldn't hurt to carry a piece of the stone on you. A turquoise bracelet is not only an ideal accessory, it will also help you fight off unwanted negativity.
