Orange Energy

Personally, I keep a pot of orange oil on hand most of the time. Orange is the colour of vibrance and energy derived from it's association with yellow, but, as its other mix is red, it also becomes more about energy focused in the direction of passion and creativity. In this way orange becomes the colour of rejuvenation, of fertility and of the force of flow of life energy and spirit.

Physically orange relates to the fertility systems as well as the abdominal area (particularly the large intestine.) It works as a cleanser, a refresher - all you have to do is look at the colour and immediately you are picturing vitamin C. If you are having problems with your digestive system you may want to ease the issue by massaging your lower abdomen with some kind of orange based oil. I use orange myself, but sandalwood is also good. Remember if you are using pure essential oils that you must always mix them with a base before you apply directly to your skin. If you have no base and want to try the rejuvenating energy orange carries with it, try adding a few drops of the oil to your bath.

Another way to experience the healing and rejuvenating energy of orange is to eat orange coloured foods - carrots, oranges, orange juice, pumpkin...there are loads of them. This will replenish the energy in your abdomen and help clear out any blockages you may have.

Besides being predominantly a healing energy, orange also encourages creativity and the ability to make dreams come true - a bit like the Star card in Tarot. Orange breathes of the unexpected, the chaotic surprises in life, good and bad. Hermits, those who have given up on love and the depressed will find orange a very hard colour to deal with. If you fit into these categories then a very slow paced reintroduction of the colour should aid some way to make you more socially adapted. Start with foods and work up to your clothing or environment.

Orange and You

When orange is introduced slowly in this way it can help bring its healing ability into our lives. When it is ignored completely you may find your creative process stinted. Orange is an important colour for artists and painters and, if you work in a studio, I would highly recommend that you get the odd splash of orange around the place to boost your creative juices!

Whilst orange stimulates the artist directly this concept can also apply to other areas of life. As I have said already, orange is the colour of the unexpected, of wishing for dreams to come true. This can be with anything. An orange flower in your hair for example, might help you with that all important meeting with the bank to close the deal on that loan you need...you get the picture.

Spiritually speaking orange is the colour of release. Of turning out pressure and stress. The overly anxious might benefit from decorating a room in it's warmer shades - but mix in red and yellow too for effective balance. If you are feeling particularly glum try some orange in your clothing - just a wee splash is all that is needed. It will bring your mood up and enhance your ability to think straight.
